The study programme stands for a high degree of practical orientation. Practical exercises complement lectures and seminars. Project work, excursions and lectures by external teachers from PR practice ensure the connection to current developments in the industry. The Bachelor of Public Relations offers tutorials to accompany selected lectures and seminars. Under the guidance of experienced students from higher semesters, students are introduced to academic work in the first semester. In the learning agency, the PR students of the second semester work in teams to create a strategic communication concept for a real client from the practice, which is presented in the context of a marketable agency pitch. The second semester students are coached by students from the sixth semester.
In addition to imparting subject-specific knowledge, the development and promotion of students' social, cultural and personal competences is a priority in teaching. In this regard, students are encouraged and supported by a sufficient number of teaching staff. Guest lectures and workshops by experts from theory and practice complement the knowledge offered in the degree programme. The technical equipment at the Hochschule Hannover - University of Applied Sciences and Arts includes functionally equipped seminar rooms as well as workshops, computer labs, a television studio, a photo studio and a large number of audio and video editing workstations that meet all modern professional standards.
Principally, a semester abroad is possible and achievements gained there can be recognised for the degree programme; interested students receive support in this regard. In addition, students can also complete a study semester at a partner university abroad as an alternative to the practical phase in a company.
In order to translate what you have learned into practice and gain professional experience during your studies, a four-month internship is compulsory in the fourth bachelor's semester. The location Hanover offers excellent access to numerous well-known companies. Internships, working student jobs or theses can be ideally combined with your studies in this way.
