Tailored to the needs of companies and agencies, study contents have been developed that meet the demands of companies. Faculty III - Media, Information and Design offers an attractive and especially creative environment. Study programmes such as Public Relations, Journalism, Information Management, Fashion and Product Design, Interior Design, Integrated Media Communication and Scenography-Costume-Experimental Design continually provide impulses for the Event Management programme. University public lectures and lecturers from different fields of study promote interdisciplinary exchange.
The future prospects of event managers are consistently positive. They work in the trade fair and congress industry, with tour operators, in the hotel industry, in cultural offices, in advertising and event agencies, in show productions for radio, film/TV and theatre, in corporate communications and also as self-employed professionals. The Event Management degree programme is a demanding and contemporary qualification for a dynamically growing service sector.
The exam regulations (PO) for the Bachelor's degree programme in Event Management summarise the contents of the programme and the forms of exams and present them clearly in a table.

The European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) also applies to this degree programme. ECTS is intended to facilitate student mobility and academic recognition of study achievements from other universities. Credit points are a measure of the student's workload. One credit point corresponds to 30 hours of work, divided between learning time in seminars and self-study time. 30 credits are awarded per semester. The awarding of credits is generally linked to the introduction of modules. The type of exam has no influence on the number of credits. Exact details can be found in the exam regulations.
The 4rd semester of the degree programme is designed as a practical phase. Students spend at least five months in a company of their choice. The framework conditions for the selection of companies and the content of the internship are defined in the Practical Phase Regulations (PPO).
Practical Phase Regulations (BVM)
The practical phase contract formulates the rights and obligations for the company and the intern.
The study places for the subject Event Management are allocated in a precisely defined procedure. It is not only about the average grade of the university entrance qualification. Previous practical experience or waiting periods also play a role.
The study places still to be awarded after allocation of the study places according to the quota system (§ 4 Higher Education Allocation Ordinance) and preferential selection (§ 6 Higher Education Allocation Ordinance) are allocated 20% according to the waiting period and 80% according to a selection procedure. In this process, 60% of the places still to be awarded are allocated according to the average grade of the university entrance qualification and a further 40% according to the average grade of the university entrance qualification combined with the weighted final grades of two selected training occupations (event management assistant and event technology specialist).
Ranking lists are formed. In the event of equality of rank, § 13 of the Higher Education Award Regulation shall apply in each case.
In the Special Selection Procedure, a weighted overall mark is formed, which is made up of:
- the average grade of the higher education entrance qualification with the weighting factor 0.6
- the grade of the final examination of the training as event management assistant or event technology specialist with the weighting factor 0.4
The most recent grade is used for the grade of the final exam. If no grade is available, the exam is assessed with 4.0 (sufficient). In the calculations for the overall grade, truncation is made after 2 decimal places.
